I’m Jay Fondren, a combat-wounded Veteran, husband, father of six, and lifelong Texan. I’m running for Congress because our nation is at a crossroads — and the political establishment has forgotten who it serves.

I didn’t fight for this country just to watch career politicians sell it away.
I came home from war without my legs, but not without my conviction.
My mission didn’t end on the battlefield — it began there.

I’m running to give Texans a voice again — one that answers to you, not to Washington, lobbyists, or the party insiders who think they can pick our leaders for us.

Why I’m Running

Like every American who’s worn the uniform, I know the meaning of sacrifice. I also know what it means to rebuild when everything you thought you knew is gone.
That same grit is what our country needs right now.

The people of Texas’ 8th District deserve representation that listens, not dictates. We need leaders who will defend our values, protect our families, and fight for our freedoms — not bow to political pressure.

I’m running as the non-establishment Republican because I believe:

• Power belongs to the people.

• Government should serve, not rule.

• Faith and family are the foundation of freedom.

 

Our Platform

1. Put America — and Texas — First

Washington forgot who it serves. I’ll fight to bring manufacturing, energy, and agriculture back home.

• End dependence on China and protect American jobs.

• Unleash Texas oil, gas, and innovation — no more D.C. red tape.

• Prioritize American industry, fair trade, and strong wages for working families.

2. Defend the Border. Defend Texas.

What’s happening at our border is not immigration — it’s an invasion.

• Finish the wall and enforce the law.

• Stop cartels, human trafficking, and fentanyl at their source.

• Empower Texas to defend its own border where Washington refuses.

3. Faith, Family, and Freedom

These aren’t slogans — they’re the backbone of our nation.

• Protect unborn life and stand firm for religious liberty.

• Put parents back in charge of their children’s education.

• Fight back against government intrusion into homes, schools, and churches.

4. Honor Our Veterans. Fix the VA.

I’ve lived the failures of the VA system firsthand. It’s time to rebuild it from the ground up.

• Reform and modernize VA healthcare with accountability.

• Give Veterans real choice and access to community care.

• Protect earned benefits — not entitlements — from bureaucratic neglect.

5. Cut the Waste. Drain the Swamp.

The establishment runs on your tax dollars. That ends now.

• Demand a balanced budget and cut reckless spending.

• End insider trading and corruption in Congress.

• Educate voters so public service never becomes self-service.

6. Protect Our Rights — All of Them

Freedom is not negotiable.

• Defend the Second Amendment without compromise.

• Protect the First Amendment — speech, faith, and assembly.

• Stop surveillance and censorship by Big Tech and Big Government alike.

7. Real Representation. Real Results.

The people of the 8th District deserve more than talking points — they deserve a fighter.

Meet Jay

Jay Fondren is a U.S. Army Veteran who lost both legs and his right thumb to an IED in Iraq the day before Thanksgiving in 2004.

He returned home determined not to be defined by what he lost, but by what he still had — faith, family, and purpose.

Jay and his wife Anne live in Montgomery County, where they raise their six children and remain deeply involved in their church and community.

As a National Service Officer with Wounded Warrior Project, Jay has spent years fighting for other Veterans to receive the care, benefits, and dignity they earned.

Now, he’s taking that same battle-tested spirit to Washington to fight for every Texan who’s tired of being ignored by the political elite.
